About

Heritage Pioneers is a free resource for heritage professionals, curators, managers, custodians and owners.

The heritage sector has plenty of advice on technical aspects of conservation. It has consultants who can help you with grant applications, and tips on how to look after your thatched cottage. It has discussions about policy and education programs and how beneficial a diverse cultural environment is for communities and economies alike.

What it doesn’t have is enough conversations around to bridge the gap between the past and the future. About how to engage 21st Century audiences in a 21st Century fashion. About how to tell the stories we care about in a way that resonates – online as well as offline.

About creating meaningful human connections.

And, importantly, about how heritage organisations can harness strategies from the private sector to not just survive but thrive.

Bridging the gap between the past and the future is what heritage work is all about. Protecting the work of previous generations for future generations is the name of the game.

Yes, it’s about survival – but that survival doesn’t have to be a daily struggle.
